What is Tooth Extractions?
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. While our primary goal is always to save your natural teeth, sometimes a tooth is too badly damaged or decayed to be repaired, and removal is the safest option for your overall health.
Ideal Candidates
Patients with severe tooth decay that cannot be fixed with a root canal, advanced gum disease that has loosened the tooth, fractured teeth, or impacted wisdom teeth that are causing pain or crowding.
Key Benefits
- Eliminates severe pain and halts the spread of infection
- Protects the health of surrounding teeth and bone
- Creates space for necessary orthodontic treatment
- Paves the way for healthy replacement options like a dental implant
- Performed with a focus on gentleness and patient comfort
How Does It Work?
We use strong local anesthesia to completely numb the area around the tooth—you will feel pressure, but no pain. The tooth is gently loosened using specialized instruments and carefully removed. If necessary, a few self-dissolving stitches may be placed to help the gums heal.
Recovery & Aftercare
We will place a gauze pad over the site and ask you to bite down firmly to stop the bleeding. You should plan to rest for the remainder of the day. Avoid drinking through a straw, spitting forcefully, or smoking for 48 hours to ensure the blood clot stays in place. Mild swelling and discomfort are normal and can be managed with ibuprofen.
